Dec 2009 Pre-Budget Report includes good news for IP companies
The Pre-Budget Report on 09/12/2009 included two items of good news for many IP based companies:
- 1. The Government is to introduce a rate of 10% corporation tax for income derived from Patents from April 2013.
- 2. Tax relief on research and development has been changed so that as of 2010 it will not be a prerequisite for small or medium sized companies to own the IP in order to qualify for enhanced tax relief for R & D expenditure.
The full details have yet to be analysed but looks to be promising.
